Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)

The Federal Highway Administration has created a specification based on (6) applications: Subsurface Drainage, Separation, Stabilization, Permanent Erosion Control, Temporary Silt Fence and Paving Fabric. These applications are then broken down into Types which identify geotextile construction (woven or nonwoven) and required strength properties. Below is a guide to help you decide which products are required for the FHWA project you are bidding. National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)

The NRCS has its own guidelines for applications such as animal trails and walkways. The specification is broken down by geotextile construction (Woven or Nonwoven) and subdivided by (4) strength classes. Below is a guide to help you determine which products are required for the NRCS project you are bidding. Association of Railway Engineering & Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA)

AREMA has a specification for Railroad Track Stabilization. It is broken down by Typical Weight. Those weights consist of Regular (10 oz), Heavy (12 oz), and Extra Heavy (16 oz).
