Control Joint Maintenance

Control joints are planned cracks placed in concrete to control random cracking and allow for movements caused by temperature changes and drying shrinkage. All concrete, when placed, will contract slightly during the drying process and control joints help reduce the resulting cracking. In addition, temperature changes, especially in freeze-thaw environments can cause additional cracking which can be mitigated by using control joints. Technical Drawing: Control Joints
